Diabetic Ketoacidosis is a serious condition that is the result of excess acid in the blood. This condition is usually associated with type 1 diabetes due to severely reduced insulin levels. In 2015, the FDA found a link between this condition and type 2 diabetes patients who were taking SGLT2 inhibitors like Invokana. The FDA also recommends that patients at risk for kidney conditions not take Invokana.
